Apart from all this, The Gathering exhibition offers a mental journey into the past, adressing the inner feelings of visitors. This is your first opportunity to experience the ancient community that built the most fascinating structure of human history.

“GOBEKLITEPE, THE GATHERING” EXHIBITION INVITES US TO LITERALLY GATHER AROUND AN ANCIENT MOMENT IN TIME AND SPACE.

A UNIQUE APPROACH TO THE STORIES HIDDEN UNDER STONES RISING

TO THE SKY.

Bereketli hilalin kalbinde yükselen kireç taşından oyma sütunlar tüm dünyanın tarihe ve insana olan bakış açısını değiştirdi. 11.600 yıl önce insanlık tarihinin epik başarılarından biri olan Göbeklitepe, dünyanın en ünlü tapınakları olan Mısır Piramitleri'nden 7.500 yıl ve İngiltere'deki Stonehenge'den 8.000 yıl önce inşa edilmiş olması nedeniyle içerdiği gizem, tüm dünyada büyük bir merak uyandırdı.

Göbeklitepe, The Gathering

sergisi tasarlanmış üç farklı planıyla gezici bir sergidir.

These limestone carved pillars, located at the heart of the fertile crescent, have changed the world's view on history and humans. Göbeklitepe, as a 11.600 year old epic success of humankind, triggers a universal enthusiasm. The ancient worship place is 7.500 years older than Egyptian pyramids and 8.000 years older than Stonehenge of England. Excavations revealed findings that have completely changed our understanding about sedentary life. These 60 ton stones were erected entirely by the power of man without any advanced modern technology. This was only made possible through organization and cooperation. What do these pillars mean? What motivated these ancient people to construct this monumental structure despite the harshness of nature? What does the symbolic world of neolithic man mean to us 11,600 years ago?

A MYSTERIOUS JOURNEY OF HUMANKIND

The purpose of the temples is yet to be discovered. The subject probably requires years of research. Certainly however, Göbeklitepe is the first temple to be discovered and the turning point of cultural evolution. It has also united different hunter-gatherer groups due to its spiritual significance. With only stones in hand, people who can portray the complex world they live in were the people that the modern world regarded as "primitive!". Göbeklitepe is the work of organization and imagination beyond the firsts. It is the human centered pinnacle of creativity and productivity that is encoded into the human DNA. It is the most striking example of mankind, who is a complex organism in nature in its own right, which challenges it to come together and dare to write its own racial destiny.

This is your first opportunity to experience the ancient community that built the most fascinating structure of human history. The Gathering exhibition, developed by Cer Modern and Reo-tek, is a product of a great amount of labor and cooperation, just like Göbeklitepe. When we take a look at human history's biggest turning points, we come across to people who work together for a common purpose. The people who were surrounded by darkness and wild nature got together and built these pillars of civilization. “Gobeklitepe, The Gathering” exhibition invites us to literally gather around an ancient moment in time and space. Moreover, Göbeklitepe joins world's digital heritage with this exhibition.

GÖBEKLITEPE IS THE WORK OF ORGANIZATION AND IMAGINATION BEYOND THE FIRSTS.

ORDINARY DAY

IN ANCIENT TIMES

The gathering exhibition aims to give visitors the experience of the human world 12,000 years ago. Designs reflected from the odor, sound and projections in 4 different sections enable the visitors to internalize the fears, rituals and symbolic world of the Neolithic by visitors and thus take people on a perceptual time journey.

EXHIBITION SECTIONS

01
ALONE IN NATURE

This is an experience of the wildlife of hunter gatherers. Its aim is to take visitors out of the familiar light of today, to take a night walk in which they are vulnerable in nature, and also to draw attention to the life of the people living before agriculture and settled life.

02
FIRST GATHERINGS

The cones in the second section represent the first gathering areas where visitors come together and witness the symbolic worlds of hunter gatherers. The audio narrative in this section aims to create new contexts by creating a context from the perspective of the person who lived in that period. The aim of this field is not to present certain facts to the visitors, but to produce new meanings and to inspire new questions.

03
CROSSROADS
TO THE GATHERING

The representation here aims to provide a visualization of the life cycles of people around Göbeklitepe. The journeys that begin with loneliness, sometimes decreasing lives, sometimes increase. Different paths sometimes cross. sometimes they are separated. The intersecting roads and crowds flow into the last gathering. This cycle has no beginning and no end, it is designed as a circular expression.

04
THE GATHERING

This field begins with a summary of this mysterious adventure of humanity. The Gathering exhibition aims to build a bridge between the people of the period and today's people by gathering the visitors around a certain purpose beyond the gathering of people in 360 degree projection.
